Early Intervention and Prevention

The purpose of the Early Intervention and Prevention Task Group is to

  • Encourage parents, schools and communities to help establish the social norm that children and young people do not normally use alcohol or other drugs.
  • Ensure that generic life-skill and social norms methods are used within the Curriculum for Excellence to help children and young people make informed lifestyle choices.
  • Ensure that as part of the wider ‘Getting it Right for Every Child’ framework, children assessed to be especially at risk of using alcohol or other drugs can access positive interventions designed to support and divert them from harm.
